Covid19 : Emirates extends suspension of flights to Dubai from four South Asian countries In line with the UAE government directives, the country’s flagship carrier Emirates has extended its suspension of flights to Dubai from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka till July 28. Emirates said in a statement that any passenger who has been to these four Asian countries in the last 14 days will not be allowed to travel from anywhere to the UAE.
“UAE Nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with updated COVIDâ€'19 protocols, are exempt and may be accepted for travel,†the Dubai-based airline said.
Passengers whose flights had been cancelled or affected by the suspension of certain routes due to pandemic-related restrictions could “hold on to [their] Emirates ticket and when flights resume, get in touch with us or [the] booking office to make new travel plans,†the airline said. However, it said cargo flights as well as business and charter flights, would be exempted from the suspension.
The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority had banned inbound flights from India to Dubai on April 24, during the peak of coronavirus second wave. The flight ban, however, exempts UAE citizens, diplomats and golden and silver residency visa holders.
This is the latest international flights ban from India in view of the highly transmissible ‘Delta’ variant virus. Earlier, Etihad Airways, the second flagship carrier of UAE, had banned its flight operations to India till July 31.
